Role overview
Work on aircraft protection against electromagnetic threats including inter-system EMI, HIRF, lightning, ESD, and electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
Responsibilities
- Execute EMC engineering assignments and compliance assessments.
- Review qualification documentation for RF susceptibility, RF emissions, magnetic effects, lightning effects, induced signal susceptibility, and electrostatic discharge.
- Assess aircraft-level inter-system EMI and certification impacts.
- Analyze aircraft modifications and non-conformances for compliance.
- Participate in supplier meetings, design reviews, continued airworthiness work, and risk mitigation.
Requirements
- Electrical engineering degree with electromagnetics specialization preferred.
- Experience in EMC specialty within aircraft or complex regulated systems.
- Knowledge of DO-160, SAE ARP guidance, FAA/EASA/TCCA regulations, fuel tank protection, antennas, propagation, signal integrity, and electromagnetic simulation.
